While playing on survival I am able to lure cows and sheep and mate them with wheat but pigs and chickens show no reaction and I'm unable to mate them. I'm using default texture package (nothing extra). I've tried with the animals I've already pinned and with all others I could find. None of the pigs or chickens work.

You have to use seeds for Chicken and Carrots for Pigs. It's not a bug, it is intended ( since 1.4 )
