The bug
For some entities their eye level (red line when hitboxes are shown) does not match their visible eye position.

Seems to also affect players. I summoned an armour stand behind me and teleported it to face my eyes. In first person it looks like the armour stand looks way above my head, but in third person it's visible that it does actually look at my eye height and also at the block I looked at. It's very weird, there might also be different issues involved here, since I was actually able to place the block there.
