Crossbows won't shoot

Loaded crossbows don't fire! Upon loading, there is an odd animation where halfway through loading your crossbow returns to normal and starts loading again. When you press right click, the arrow vanishes into another dimension while your crossbow returns to its unloaded state. There is no arrow or shot animation. Pleas fix this bug I want to kill my friends with nine consecutive crossbow shots and it won't work.
