Hardcore death, created NEW WORLD and got the world that i previously died in...

What I expected to happen was...:
I expected the game to create a new world to which i could  play and start over in a NEW WORLD.

What actually happened was...:
After i had died in my hardcore survival game,  purely default game,  no seed added.  i noticed that the zombie that killed me, i could hear it even though i was at the menu.  I could delete world so i pressed that,  and the game froze (i think black screen) and i could still hear the zombie.    after i pressed "delete world" the game froze.  I cntrl alt dlt the client and restarted the game.  

I started a NEW GAME exactly same settings as the last game that i died in,  and it put me BACK in the world i was building in,  same exact world with reset inventory and achievments.
