Furnaces become frozen in various states (fire, no fire). Nothing cooks in them in either state. When mined then replaced in same position, still frozen. When mined & placed elsewhere, work fine. When new furnace crafted & placed in buggy location, frozen.

Original cause (unknown) of furnace freezing was other than that stated in MC-144469.
It's not just furnaces - chests stop making sound, and you get... "interesting" behaviour if you replace one of those "broken" furnaces with a chest.
