The bug
If a player joins the world or teleports to an area outside of spawn chunks, all of the entities in that chunk will be invisible. Other chunks are not affected.
Steps to reproduce
Teleport outside of the spawn chunks
/tp 10000 80 10000
Enable chunk borders (F3+G) for testing
Place an armor stand in two chunks
[media]Leave the world standing in one of these chunks
Rejoin the world
[media]
→ Notice the entity in the chunk you joined is invisible

Can confirm about Mobs of all kinds

Other part of the bug is that, if you summon another entity Where the invisible was, the new entity Will be invisible When you go far and return

After multiple disconnects/reconnects things are more stranger, however it seems random what happens. One of the followings after every reconnect:
none of the mobs appear - however you can't place a block where they are, but /data get entity command returns with no entities message
only some of the mobs appear - e.g. only 1 villager of 3, or 1 villager and the iron golem, etc
mobs are duplicated - even a horse with a diamond armor
mobs are duplicated again - yes, a sitting 3-headed cat seems very strange to me

I'm still having this issue with 19w09a.

Yes, it's like there's nothing there when they're not appearing, they're probably not loading at all.

At first connect many mobs were duplicated, however after a disconnect/reconnect everything was correct.

I attempted many disconnects/reconnects , but it seems to me that the first disconnect (and save) fixed somehow the entities.
OR: is the priest with the golden badge invisible again? I've never met this villager before, maybe it was always invisible? And how could the dog of an other player appear here suddenly? 🙂
It's not the same issue as related here where we reported either all entities invisible in a same chunk or everywhere outside of spawn chunk. This one you describe is happening since the first 1.14 snapshots. Mobs sometimes dupe and are invisible upon loading chunks. It's more [MC-138871] or other reports I have seen.

Still not fixed.
Restarted my 1.14-pre1 server (having saved-all just before), then I joined some hours later and voi-la!
All animals, item frames, villagers and carts disappeared. Maybe smth else - don't know cause I think I'm probably giving up now with snapshots :/
Also, I've already restarted the server a couple of times before - everything seemed OK, This time everything disappeared.
[media][media]@unknown: I'm unable to reproduce this issue in 1.14 Pre-Release 1 using the steps in the description. Please create a new report, as it's likely that entities are disappearing due to a different cause. Make sure to include steps to reproduce as well.

@Neko Maybe this not a consistent bug, but the steps were similar to those described in the description, thats why I suppose this is the same bug. The situation was such: our mate was AKF-ing for a long time (~2 hours) in our farm in the Nether, no-one was online except him. Then I kicked him, saved the world and restarted the server. Some hours later I joined the world being in the "home" chunks in overworld and noticed that all the entites mentioned above disappeared. Please let me know if a separate issue still should be created.
