Block Placement Glitch in Nether

What I expected to happen was:

Place a Stone Block on ground.

*What actually happened was...:*Block placed but immediately vanished.  I quit the game and came back, my number of Stone Blocks in inventory was restored but still could not place a block in the column. I dug down 1 block, still could not place.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attempt to place a Stone Block at the coordinates I am standing on in the Nether.
