Hostile mobs despawn with name tag if game is set to peaceful.

If you name a hostile mob with a nametag and then set the game to peaceful the mob will despawn. This could be on purpose but it doesn't make sense since nametags are supposed to stop mobs from despawning.

It has been closed by a mod. That is not in your control.

It's a duplicate because name tags set a mob as "persistent", and that's supposed to prevent them from despawning. So the underlying cause is the same.

This isn't a bug. The peaceful mode is created to force the despawning of ANY hostile mob.

I found this bug in Snapshot 14w21b where if I log out of my world and change to another profile without logging back into the world, the hostile mobs with nicknames despawn the next time I use 14w21b while the difficulty is set to Normal.
