crashing when starting 1.14. not crashing 1.13.2 or earlier MAC

Hi

I can run 1.13.2, and I can start the launcher on 1.14, but when I generate a world on single player the game crashes. I can generate worlds on 1.13.2

On snapshot 1.14-5 I have the same problem.

I have reinstalled minecraft a number of times.

Starting a 1.13.2 world with 1.14 chosen also crashes.
