Cannot close inventory

I have my inventory key set to TAB, its not the default key but its what I prefer. It's worked for me in all previous versions, except 1.14. I can open my inventory using TAB, but I can't close it, I have to use ESC (escape). In previous snapshots, I've been able to open/close inventory, but I had this problem with pre-release 5 and the current 1.14.
