[MC-149694] villager profession assignments

i've placed a number of different workstations 48 blocks away from the only villager within over 300 blocks of my current location. no matter what workstation i place, a newly placed villager after that will become that profession. from what i've heard, the limit was to search 8 blocks horizontally.

also, can you provide me with the exact specification, or a link to an official mojang webpage with all the information regarding the new villagers, since the snapshot pages do not include a lot of the information to determine if an actual bug exists. I want to know exactly how far horizontally, vertically and diagonally villagers are supposed to look for a workstation, how long a work station has to be abandoned before another villager can claim it, how long it takes before a villager can change professions, etc.

i have to say I am very frustrated with the lack of professionalism with the support staff in answering all the questions being asked, or actually reading what is being typed. you close the report yet don't answer my question.
