Fishing rod disappeared when I was AFK fishing.

Can not reproduce from the information given.
Would need to know more details about the issue such as enchants applied on the rod, Enchants applied to any armour the player was wearing, The type of fish farm, Server configuration, etc.
Also any logs of the time could help identify the issue.
Note: If you did not have the mending enchant on the fishing rod OR had any armour that had the mending enchant applied then it is possible for the rod to break over time.
There is Mending, Luck of the Sea II, Lure II and Unbreaking III so there is no reason for it to break. Also not wearing any armor at the time of issue.
Please provide some reproduction steps. For example, what does the fish farm look like? Are you able to reproduce this somehow?

It is not the first time that it had happened.
The first time it happened, it happened to a fresh new rod. But disappeared 2 mins later. It also happened to my brother on the same server
Are you able to provide the server log from around the time it happened?
Using that exact design I can't reproduce on either single player or a multiplayer server.
Is it possible that the server that you are on has a patch to stop people afk fishing?
What are you doing to hold right click? Also, when you returned, was your playing still facing the same way?
It probably broke.
