animals killed by lava give raw food

i made a survival world in minecraft 1.14 as soon as it came out.I made progress and I made a chicken farm. It works by burning the chicken by lava and all the the food I get is raw chicken.
I know this is wrong in the game because earlier or in 1.13 I made one which worked fine. if this is proved to be a flaw please do fix
