hostile mobs are not spawning nearly enough, i wait all night to fight them for their drops however i encounter 2-3 mobs the entire night. i have difficulty on hard and still nothing, even underground. no gamerules have been changed because i am on a survival world so the spawn mechanics must be broken.

you have reached the spawn limit - there are so many mobs in caves that you haven't found that the game is slowing down the spawns to prevent lag
