Floating Flowers

Normally, when you destroy a block that a flower is on, the flower should be destroyed and not be floating.
Yet I encountered this floating plant (sorry, I don't know the name of the plant) whilst exploring near x=0 z=0
As you can see there isn't a barrier beneath.
