so I built my house and farms right next to a village and it was teeming with life then all of a sudden after coming back from mining they were gone. a few days past and went about my business, i could not see anyone so i looked for anyone. i found the blacksmith and a normal villager little far out from the village just doing small movement. I manage to get them back into the village and they ran right into a house. I search the rest of the area and nothing. also my iron golm wont spawn, i build it but nothing happens. also its not enemies killing them, i play on peaceful

My village is also desolate after just a few in-game days, though I assume the issue is simply zombie sieges being left unattended to?
I hate the mechanic myself, the fact that there's no way to prevent them (since they spawn in any amount of light and inside the village itself) doesn't make sense to me in the context of the rest of the game, personally. But enough ranting...
It's possible a siege (or multiple) wiped out your village and those villagers you found had been chased away and managed to survive due to being far enough away.
I haven't tried building a golem yet myself, but that does sound like a weird bug. Are you sure you are using a carved pumpkin and not a regular pumpkin? Because it does not work with a regular pumpkin, just a carved one or a jack-o-lantern.
