I found a treasure map on a lost ship at the bottom of the ocean in survival mode. I wanted to find a treasure. I was outside the map and to simplify things, I switched to the creative mode. I tried to find a treasure, but I moved only along the axis of y wherever I turned.

The small icon on the map for the player means that you are far outside the range of the map. If you move closer, your icon will begin to enlarge and then it will move once you have hit the map's coverage.
