When you play a sound using /playsound, the area in which the sound can be heard is infinite, and its volume is no longer dependant on any of the parameters of the command. It used to be dependant on the "volume" parameter. Now, you have no way of editing the size of the audible sphere, and by default it's infinite.

Alright, thanks. I've resolved this ticket as a duplicate of MC-146721. As you can read there, as of 1.14 you need to use mono sounds if you want to have them only be audible in a certain range, because of the way the audio engine used by Minecraft works.
