Gold pickaxes no longer mine obsidian, not sure if this is a glitch but i cant find anything online from if it was changed

i have no idea but i have memories of gold picks mining obsidian, but its odd because theres nothing online about it

When was the last version when gold pickaxes could mine obsidian? I don't remember that, and I play Minecraft since 2011.
