new villagers corrupted

so, I went to a 1.13 world and backed it up to 1.14.3, but because of the new trading system when I tried to trade with the villagers in my world the new screen appears for a spit second but then just ejects me out of the interface. since it's an old world it may be thinking that it has to use the old interface, but that is now canceled out by the new interface, causing it to just eject me from the interface before corruption of the villager, but that's just my guess.
