Often, when generating a new world, it will generate to an extent and then freeze, sometimes even at 100%, never allowing me to join world. to fix this, I have to close the game with task manager (since it will not respond) and restart It back up(it will announce a crash has occurred), rejoin or make a new world. with what I know, 1.13.2 and below does not have this problem
