Can't scroll while shifting in 1.14.3 on MacOS

Whenever shifting in game, if you scroll with your mouse scroll wheel to switch through the hotbar, nothing happens. It works fine if not shifting, and you can still switch items inn your hotbar when shifting by using the numbers on your keyboard, but scrolling is broken. Other forums say this is a macos exclusive issue.
