You don't drop the same amount of xp after death bug ( I think )

When you die you don't drop the same amount of xp as you had before which really annoys the crap out of me I heard this is to reduction lag but if this is not a bug there should at least be an option in the options menu so you can toggle if you what the same amount of xp you had before you died to be dropped on death or not.
