It seems to be impossible to type in the section symbol for text formatting into minecraft.
ALT+21 or 0167 work fine in other windows apps. I cannot copy/paste the symbol either.

(See it's working fine here, just not in minecraft)
The minecraft language is set to English (United Kingdom)
Certain other ANSI codes work like ALT+5 which puts a red club symbol into chat.
I searched and couldn't find anything about this issue.
If it helps, I'm using a coolermaster MK850 with aimpad turned off, but even a generic wireless keyboard does exactly the same thing...works everywhere except minecraft.

I can't paste it in from a text editor either.
Also, the search is broken. None of the duplicates show when searching for "section sign"
I also think this should be considered a bug. Formatting is available in game, why can't it be used intuitively.
"section sign" is too precise for the search engine to give you a correct match. You need to type something more general like "formatting".

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is a Duplicate of MC-1572.
:info: This is working as intended. Writing the formatting symbol directly in the game is intentionally not permitted.
