Pistons sometimes extends, even if no block is attached nearby

Sometime the Pistons are extending, even if there is no reason to do so.

This Bug can break Redstone-Constructions like Lifts, etc.

Mostly it happens randomly, but following Steps can reproduce it every time:

  • Start from a high Point: build an column of Slime-Blocks downwards (see Pic ...01.24.44.png)

  • Place a Redstone-Block (see Pic ...01.24.54.png)

  • Place a Slime Block (see Pic ...01.25.05.png)

  • Place a Piston or Sticky-Piston facing downwards - (the Piston extends imediately, even if it shouldn't) (see Pic ...01.25.25.png)

  • Remove The Slime Block above the Piston - (Now the Piston should retract, but it keeps being extended) (see Pic ...01.25.29.png)

  • Remove the Redstone-Block above  - (Now the Piston should retract, but it keeps being extended) (see Pic ...01.25.31.png)

  • Remove all other Blocks  (see Pic ...01.25.41.png)

This Bug can be very annoying wwhile building Redstone-Constructions.

Thank you for your report!
We're actually already tracking this issue in MC-108, so I resolved and linked this ticket as a duplicate.

However, that ticket has already been resolved. Depending on the resolution, that can mean that it either will be fixed in the next version, or that it is not considered a bug and won't be fixed.

If you haven't already, you might like to make use of the search feature in the future to see if the issue has already been reported.

Hi

MC 108 is resolved as "works as intended". I don't think that it is intended if a piston extends, if there is no powered block in a distance of 10 Blocks anymore (Only Air-blocks).

Please recheck this.

BTW. before submitting a bug, i always try to search. This Bug was submitted for Version 1.14.4 while MC-108 is a Bug for Versions 1.12 and earlier which is closed since 2013.

MC-108 is indeed confirmed to be intended behaviour, even if it does seem quirky. As it's not a bug, the affected versions are not updated.
