Minecarts can't make it around a bend on the rails, causing secondary symptoms.
What I expected to happen was...:
I built a long rail connecting two establishments with one corner approximately half way down the line. I placed two carts on the rail, one with a furnace in it. I expected that once I powered the furnace cart with coal that it would take me (in the other cart) to the other end of the line.
What actually happened was...:
When the carts reach the corner they break apart. The furnace cart gets stuck in an infinite loop, bouncing between the far end of the line and the corner, even after running out of fuel, until acted on by an outside force. The passenger cart bounces backwards off of the corner back to where it came from, keeping the exact velocity that it had when it broke away from the furnace cart, until the player ejects from the cart or it is acted on by an outside force; the player cannot control / slow the cart from within the cart.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Clear a flat space large enough to work with
2. Place tracks with a bend, in an L shape, terminated by a solid block on either end
3. Place an empty cart at one end of the line, adjacent to the solid block terminating that end
4. Place a furnace cart adjacent to the empty cart
5. Enter the empty cart
6. Equip coal and use it on the furnace cart

Violine1101, this is not a duplicate issues, will you read the two descriptions and tell me how they are similar? My carts will move in an INFINITE loop as in forever. The "duplicate" report is that their carts are loosing power at a turn. NOT DUPLICATE. Please reopen this report and have the problem fixed.
Also, the bug you referred to has had an open ticket since 2014. Just for the record, it's been about 5.5 years since that issue was reported, which doesn't give me any hope this issue will be fixed. I just bought this game, the Java edition about 2 weeks ago. If I had known that there were such rampant bugs I wouldn't have bought it. $27 of aggravation.
Apologies if I misunderstood your ticket. The title of it led me to believe that you were talking about the issue that we're tracking in MC-51053.
I just took a look at this and the issue that you're describing seems to be that the furnace minecart does not "drag" the normal minecart along. However, the following behaviour seems to be different depending on whether there's someone sitting inside of the minecart or not: if someone's sitting in it, the furnace minecart will continue to bounce (which is described in MC-88038), if nobody is sitting in it, it will stop after 10 blocks (wich is described in MC-51053).
As we don't seem to have a ticket about the fact that passager minecarts are bounced away when the furnace minecart travels around a corner, I have reopened this ticket.
On an unrelated note, I would recommend using powered rails instead of furnace minecarts if you want something reliable to use in your rail system. Furnace minecarts are the maybe most unreliable feature of the game, and it is said that they will be removed from the game in the future.
It still happen in 1.15.2-pre2, but I'm not sure it's really a bug. Furnace minecarts are supposed to push carts, not pull them
Found data pack what fixes minecarts linking and cornering if dragged by furnace minecart.
Data pack itself in attachments.

Thank you for your report!
We're actually already tracking this issue in MC-51053, so I resolved and linked this ticket as a duplicate.
If you would like to add a vote and any extra information to the main ticket it would be appreciated.
If you haven't already, you might like to make use of the search feature in the future to see if the issue has already been reported.
