I cannot open a certain world. I did get sections of the level.dat deleted, but inserted the Player compound tag from the players/Fluffy8x.dat. The level.dat is otherwise complete.

The game returns me to the title screen, without loading the world. And it didn't crash at all.

That happened in the same world I had tick problems in. Just wait for about 30 seconds. Then fiddle with the settings a little. That's what I did, and the world loaded eventually.
