Villagers not claiming bed when they can only access its foot

I consider this a bug because, once they have already claimed the bed, villagers will sleep in the bed without access to its head.

I assume that this is the case because it reduces villager path-finding lag and/or prevents double-counting the bed (since it is made of two blocks).
