[MC-160413] Item frame or glow item frame in a nether portal doesn't destroy the nether portal blocks

If you place item frames in the Netherportal the portal will not be closed but will continue to exist.

Why would it break the portal? They are entities and when you stand in a portal does it break. No, because entity's aren't blocks. Portals are on broken when the obsidian is removed or a liquid is dispensed into the portal block.
