Mobs swimming/floating in lava instead of falling through it

Ever since the server I play on updated to 1.14.4, I noticed that mobs now swim/float in lava instead of falling through it, an example is mooshrooms, it occasionally happens to guardians from time to time. I attempted to recreate it for guardians, but failed.
