Drowned randomly dying in the nether

I have a drowned farm that pushes the drowned into the nether to be killed for tridents but when I went to kill them after 6 hours of afk farming they were all dead and the chest was full of rotten flesh, but since I didnt get to kill them no tridents. So i'm sad and yeah.

Also it was on a friends server.
