Bog-standard computer, all vanilla. Starts up as normal.
I make a new world. It shows the animation from 0% to 100, and "Joining world"... then
"An unexpected error has occurred and the game has crashed." etc.
Nothing in the "crash-reports" folder.
Launcher log attached.
1.14.4 works fine.
I am not a moron, I've played MC for about 8 years.

No, there is not.
"does this happen for all worlds" - as far as I can tell, yes. Trying to create any new game causes it to crash.
We close tickets as awaiting response because more often than not, people do not respond to our questions, leaving behind tickets that don't have enough information to fix them. As I noted above, those tickets will be reopened automatically when the reporter replies.
The file you attached does not seem to be the complete launcher log, as it does not show the game crashing. Can you attach the complete launcher log please? Or does the launcher crash when the game crashes as well?
Also, what are your system specs, operating system etc? All this information might be relevant.
That is the complete log. It stops at that point, and posts nothing further.
What "system specs" do you need to know?
OS is Linux 4.15.0-64-generic
In the incomplete launcher log, there are multiple error messages related to Minecraft not being able to write some files, which is most likely the cause of this issue. Perhaps Minecraft is missing the permission to create/edit files in the Minecraft folder(s).
