When within approx. 5 blocks of any other mob and looking directly at their body or limbs (not the decorative parts like horns on cows, ears on horses etc.), you can not raise your shield, charge a shot in the bow, or release a shot from the crossbow.
Other types of thrown weapons were not tested.
The problem occurs in all gamemodes (and makes fighting in close quarters really difficult, rendering the shield absolutely useless).
Has been occurring for about 2 snapshots prior to 19w40a.
