I had a chestplate for about a week sitting in a chest with unbreaking 3 and thorns 1 on it, ad i was waiting to get mending so i can put that on it. I put mending on it and my shield and start flying back from the end, going to the portal so I can go home. Then, the wind causes the power to go out for maybe 3 seconds,. I load MC back up and i have my shield, the mending book, but don't have my chestplate.

This is partially a duplicate of MC-63, where the player save and world save aren't stored at the same time. Honestly though, considering you lost power while the game was running, it's lucky the world wasn't corrupted entirely.
