I can place sugarcane in water.

  1. I find a place where theres water, and i take it on the sea level.

  2. It places and grows.

  3. And i dont think thats supposed to happen

so you mean that sugarcane is intended to grow underwater?? 

While sugarcane will not naturally appear in water, there is no problem with having it grow there.
