[MC-167136] Minecraft Freezes on Linux when going through a portal

Minecraft freezes when going thorough portals on servers or singleplayer or when you switch lobbies or get teleported after you died on server. The screen turns darker and darker.

Does this issue occur on an unmodded version of the game?

Also, can you elaborate on "freeze"? Is the FPS dropping, or is there network latency, for example.

So when I click play again it shows me this dark screen and then disconnects me from the server. It is vanilla Optifine 1.14.4.

Again, does this happen in unmodded (i.e. no optifine)?

Also, I suspect the dark screen may be the result of your compositor/desktop environment darkening windows when they are loading.
