Not able to download Java edition

I have had Minecraft since 2014, but when I log in to redownload it onto a computer it makes me buy it again.  I'm not able to download it at all, though I have played for years and am able to play on TechnicLauncher without a problem.  Before it would say I had an error and would not allow me to play on the normal, desktop versions.
