crash on loading world (NullPointerException)

I got an error message after starting to load a world and minecraft breifly went to main menu (as it always does) but this time it didint go away, so I clicked to load the world again and it crashed with this error report:

Could you attach the crash report to this issue please?

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
And please attach a new crash report, if the problem persists.
