Problem with executing windows batch files associated with the Minecraft java edition server

When i go into the Minecraft server's directory and execute the startup batch file, the server automatically runs, but half a second later the console immediately shuts down, no java application, no java error, no window. i am running windows 10 build 1909 and running the latest JRE version on 64-bit. the bach script goes something like:

@ECHO OFF
java -Xms1G -Xmx6G -d64 -jar server.jar
pause

And, yes I checked my system environment variables to see if it is getting the directory from the JRE folder, and I did type in true for the eula. can someone find a fix for this, I really need to play with a couple of my friends and I can't jet the server running.
