Ice takes forever to melt in the nether

This is not a bug !!! Ice won't melt in hell. Then how do you think people build the subway because of the ice and ride boats in hell?
And how did you pour water in hell?

Can confirm in 21w06a. This is most likely an issue because ice requires some kind of light source nearby, in order for it to melt.

Confirmed for 21w18a and 1.16.5.

A fix can be that ice melts after 5 minutes and disappears, since water also evaporated in the nether. 

Issue confirmed in 1.21.3.

It is not a bug, but it definitely should be changed, as it contradicts the very essence of the Nether. An alternative for fast movement in the Nether: the Soul Speed enchantment + Strider (which are currently completely useless)

I am resolving this issue as a change request.

Ice melts depending on the current light level, regardless of dimension. While the nether is in fact the 'hot' dimension, there is nothing leading me to believe this is a bug, despite the requested functionality making sense within the context of the game.
