After getting the new patch update all the charcoal in my chest was gone and that I can no longer craft charcoal I.E. with a furnace and wood cooking wood combination. I also noticed all villagers in the game are completely gone and I cannot find a single one still in the village which used to have 6-7.

Are you sure you haven't loaded up your world in 20w06a or 20w07a once? in those snapshots, there was a bug which caused villagers to disappear. The 20w08a snapshots fixes that, but it of course wont revert the lost villagers if you have loaded your world in the other snapshots before.
