Can’t craft torches or other items I should be able to in inventory

Sometimes I am unable to craft items like torches in the inventory even when I have the correct components needed for it. Putting the items in the right places in the crafting box does nothing, nor does trying to use the recipe book.

If I save and exit the world then re load, this seems to fix the glitch.
