Minecraft Crashes when rendering End Portal

Happens in both Creative and Survival.
When trying to render any active end portal, my computer crashes.
Although I haven't seen any other computers crash in this situation, I believe that there should be a workaround somehow.
My GPU is very old, and only supports OpenGL 1.4. Is the end portal rendered with a method that is newer than OpenGL 1.4?

-Every other aspect of Minecraft works flawlessly.

I don't believe this will be fixed, since it isn't a common problem. But, can I at least have some sort of explanation? With this problem, I can't even finish the game.

Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while ingame and attach the crash report here. Seems to me though that if the game is crashing your system you should check for driver updates (if possible).

Let me know if you notice anything peculiar with that report.
My computer is set up to check for updates daily, but I manually checked my graphics driver, kernel, and Java. They're all up to date.

I have a desktop, so I should probably just upgrade my GPU eventually, although I am curious if anyone can make sense of this.

A couple things I noticed. Firstly according to the crash report, your Minecraft client is running openGL 2.1. Also, I see that you are using openJDK. Though I doubt it makes a difference, have you tried using Oracle java?

Interesting...
I've also found out that when my computer "crashes", all it does is hang for about a minute or so. I was playing music in the background when I tried duplicating the crash this time, and the music kept playing(playing, but stuttering).

I get my desktop back after a while.
I'm greeted with a report from the OS that the actual JVM crashed, including a short report in the Launcher's Development Console.
The few lines that stood out among the rest in the report was:
Problematic frame:
C [libdricore9.2.0.so.1+0x23cd05] _mesa_glsl_initialize_functions(_mesa_glsl_parse_state*)+0xa35

I was basing OpenGL 1.4 off of Intel's site:

And yes, I've tried Oracle Java as well.
