I added custom music to my resourcepack.
"music.01":"music.01": {"sounds": [{"name":"resourcepack:music/01","stream": true}]}
And I turned it on through a command in the console
/playsound resourcepack:music.01 ambient @a ~ ~ ~ 1
Despite volume 1, I hear music at any distance from the launch point.
If I run the music from the vanilla game with the same command, then moving away from the launch point, the sound will fade out.
/playsound minecraft:music_disc.11 ambient @a ~ ~ ~ 1
UPD: I changed the stereo channel in the file to a mono channel and the sound stopped sounding all over the world and began to fade out smoothly.

We're actually already tracking this issue in MC-146721, so I resolved and linked this ticket as a duplicate.
However, that ticket has already been resolved. That means that this is not considered a bug and won't be fixed. Please do not leave a comment on the linked ticket.
