Hello,
I've noticed that when writing a sign particles effects becomes suspended/frozen. This is strange because animations keep playing but particles freezes. Here is a video to show what I mean. Here - YouTube
Only tested in 20w11a.

The real issue is that the fire animation doesn't pause.
