[MC-177067] Java error when accessing server

When joining a Minecraft server on the Ubuntu/Debian version I get an error: Internal Exception: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to access address of buffer

It's 1.8.9 but that is not an option

This issue has been closed as invalid.

Your Minecraft version is outdated. We currently take issues for version 1.15.2, or later.
Please update to the latest version as it includes the newest fixes. If you still have this problem after updating, then please create a new issue.
In case of a game crash, be sure to attach the crashlog from [minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/guides/finding-minecraft-data-folder/].
