After searching 5 days for ancient debris, I can say for sure I do not have any. I used beds to explode areas at y=14 in the nether and since I suspected some bug I switched to creative mode and exploded big areas with tnt. Still no sign of any ancient debris. must be a bug. also this world of mine when first loaded on the snapshots had deleted all my llamas, sheep, dogs, cats and horses in and around my house.

If you updated the world to the snapshots, you'll have to explore far away from the parts of the nether you explored before the snapshots. The parts of the nether you explored before the snapshots wouldn't have ancient debris because they have already generated, and new blocks will only appear in terrain that generated while you were using the snapshot.

Thank you very much! That must be the problem since I stayed where I was before.

I went to a warped forest biome and started mining underneath and voila after 5 min. I have found ancient debris. Thanks again. I suspected that actually in the beginning as well but thought they must have included that in the description (which they didnt) something like ancient debris won't override the parts of the nether that have been already discovered.  So I didn't think more of it and tried for days. and today within 30min I got already 8 ancient debris - . -.

In situations like this, if a player doesn't have too much invested in the Nether it may also be possible to just rename the DIM-1 directory with the dimension's data and let it regenerate.  (Don't actually delete the renamed data until you're sure that you haven't somehow screwed up....)
