When riding in a minecart, players do not travel through Nether portals. Upon exiting the minecart, the minecart passes through the portal immediately.

This has existed for as long as I can remember (I started playing in 1.5.2 Java). I don't beleive this is a bug considering it has been around for (at least) 7 years.
