When picking up water or lava sometimes it shows you’ve picked it up, but you actually didn’t. Your bucket would appear to be filled but placing it would cause the source block to instantly disappear, and the source block you previously picked up would be invisible.
I have tried searching for this using a lot of different key words but can not find anybody else who reported this issue. Sorry in advance if this is a duplicate.
This issue is hard to reproduce intentionally so I didn’t manage to get an attachment.
