Well I was playing minecraft, and I was going in my creative world checking out the new features/bug fixes in the new Snapshot, and when I step on redstone ore, it doesn't give out redstone power. This was tested in survival too.

Strange, in other versions it did, I stepped on it and it lit up and made power, great for the Colored Pressure plates.
The Minecraft Wiki says it does, and has for quite a while
Redstone ore can also become powered by a mob in contact with it. This can be used as a substitute for pressure plates
In the talk page of that article it also says:
Redstone ore is incapable of providing power to any circuits, regardless of the circumstances. The only way to use redstone ore to produce a current is with a toggleable BUD switch. The section on the page about redstone ore should be removed or heavily updated.
But if you can find a version where activated redstone ore does provide redstone power, this can be reopened. To my knowledge there is none.
This did indeed used to work.
Just search "redstone ore door" or "redstone ore trap" on google

Redstone ore never gives off redstone power.
